Universal Life Energy
Reiki, one of the more widely known forms of energy healing, is a process of laying on of hands that sends Ki or life force into the body working with the whole being, balancing the emotional and mental bodies, and promoting relaxation and the body’s natural ability to heal.
Reiki healers receive initiations and training from a Reiki Master.
Reiki is divided into degrees.
1st Degree Reiki includes:
- 4 attunements to allow your physical body to work with the energy
- Basic training for self-healing and giving Reiki treatments to others
2nd Degree Reiki includes:
- 1 attunement that empowers the 3 basic Reiki symbols
- Basic training for mental healing and long distance healing
The Master or Teacher Level includes:
- One attunement that empower five Reiki symbols to pass on Reiki
- Training and preparation to give attunements.
After the initial attunement, the Reiki practitioner places her hands on her body or another person’s body and the Ki energy does the rest. The energy will go where it is needed. It comes from life source through the practitioner. Reiki deals not only with the evident pain, but with the cause of the pain. Metaphysical healing understands that physical pain or dis-ease originates in thought, emotional trauma, negative mental patterns, or spiritual despair.
The more you give Reiki, the more it teaches you and the stronger your healing ability gets. The more you give Reiki, the more it will accelerate your personal growth and self-healing. At the highest level of Reiki training, the practitioner passes from student to master and becomes a teacher of Reiki.
Sushila Mertens, Reiki Master, is honored to share Reiki and to pass the traditional Reiki healing to students who have the desire to learn. Be prepared for spiritual growth.
Reiki Masters
Sushila Mertens received First and Second Degree Reiki attunement and training from Reiki Master Mary McFadyen in 1981 and 1982 and Level III/IV Mastership from Reiki Masters Lynette Butcher and Lynell Beckstrom in 1999. She received teacher level training in Komyo Reiki Kai, the Japanese style of Reiki from Hyakuten Inamoto in 2011.
Mary McFadyen received direct attunement from Reiki Master Takata who brought the Usui Reiki Ryoho system of the ancient Japanese teachings to the United States in the 70’s. This is also known as traditional Reiki.
Lynette Butcher and Lynell Beckstrom are also from the line of Master Takata through the lineage of Barbara Weber Ray and her student Patrick Zeigler. Patrick added symbols he received in Egypt and renamed his branch Reiki-Seichim.
Hyakuten Inamoto, a non-sectarian, Japanese Buddhist monk from Kyoto, Japan, studied all levels of Reiki with Chiyoko Yamaguchi, a student of Chujiro Hayashi. After much research into the original teachings of Usui Sensei, Hyakuten developed Komyo Reiki Kai in 1998 and began holding classes. Komyo Reiki Kai follows the teachings of Usui Sensei and focuses on healing not only the body, but most importantly, the soul or spirit. Usui Sensei believed that with spiritual improvement, the body would naturally be better capable of healing itself. Komyo Reiki Kai presents Reiki as it was understood and commonly practiced in the 1930’s in Japan. This system places emphasis on spiritual unfoldment through the practice of Reiki Ryoho, aiming for “satori” or enlightenment. The practice motto is: “Put your hands, Surrender, and Smile.”
Komyo = Great light or enlightenment
Reiki = Energy of the Universe
Kai = Association or group
